World of Bees
Bee / insect habitat
A bee box like this will help to maintain our population of bees and other fascinating minibeasts. Great for your garden too as it will help pollination, and therefore the yield of your fruit trees and flowers.
The holes may be used by solitary bees such as mason bees and leafcutter bees, which are non-agressive and excellent pollinators in the garden.
The solid construction gives excellent insulation for overwintering ladybirds and lacewings.
Site in a sheltered spot, preferably to catch the morning sun. The sooner they feel the warmth of the sun, the sooner they get up and go out foraging, therefore maximising the day's working hours.
Height 27cm, base 22cm (longest measurement). The woodwork is stained and finished with teak oil.
